Mansion in May 2017 – Threshold

Alnwick Hall. The Abbey

Our third time being selected for Mansion in May was in 2017. We decided to be bold in our choice of rooms, once again a dramatic staircase setting. In this space we wanted to welcome you to this grand turn-of-the-century home so we tried to bring back all the architectural details. We removed a drop ceiling and sheet rock walls to reveal the original grandeur of the room. My inspiration came from the colors and forms in the second-floor stained glass window. All of the art that was chosen from our master sculptors and painters reflect the spirit of this stunning window.

The ceiling and chandelier that was hidden under the drop ceiling was completely stunning. We spent days cleaning it and refurbishing it bringing it back to the grandeur of the early 19th century.

I love architecture and architectural terms, in this site specific curation we used the word Threshold, which welcomes the viewer to the mansion and to the world of Broadfoot and Broadfoot. Our master painters and sculptors are in over 100 museums throughout the world. Much to my surprise once again we were number one in sales.
