Carole McDermott
Born in Pennsylvania, Carole McDermott was raised by a family that encouraged her art talents. Her father was an engineer and a fine painter. “We lived in a small town, but we had a great library. Art books and painting have always made me happy and given me peace.”
She received a BFA from the University of Denver in 1969. Many of her teachers were Russian immigrants who required students to draw from the model representationally in the morning and then oil paint in the afternoons – abstractly.
Carole McDermott has studied at the Art Students League for many years, she was awarded the 2006 Fountain Fund Grant to paint in Aix-en-Provence for six weeks. A signature member, and vice- president of the American Watercolor Society, Carole is also a member of the Art Students League Board of Control. She is an elected member of Allied Artists of America.
She taught Studio Art at Delbarton High School in Morristown , New Jersey, and was cover/featured in the 2016 issue of Watercolor Artist Magazine.
Carole spends her time in Colorado and New York City.
