Barbara Yeomans
Barbara J. Yeomans has been creating vibrant lithographs and paintings for the past three decades. Born in London 1933, she studied fashion and textiles in the 1950s at the Cheltenham College of the Arts. At the time, the school was recognized for its crafts and design programs. She immigrated with her American husband to Florida, raised a family while teaching art locally. Widowed in her 50’s, she returned to college to study printmaking and has gone on to show with various arts organizations such as Art House, Big Art and Alliance for the Arts Southwest Florida. She also supports other organizations such as the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation and Southwest Florida State College Gallery. Her work routinely is shown in public works projects such as: Southwest Florida International Airport, the Thomas Alva Edison Home and various Florida University Gallery shows. Over the years, she has had several one-woman shows in Florida, England, New Jersey and New York. Her work is sold exclusively in New York City and New Jersey at Broadfoot & Broadfoot as well as in England. Her work has been collected and placed in homes and businesses everywhere from Sag Harbor, Montreal, Calgary, New York to Milan and Hong Kong. She recently placed 2nd at a National Print Show at the Alliance for the Arts in Fort Myers, Florida. Barbara’s abstract work belies her age with its energetic use of colors and brush strokes that range from large canvas paintings, to monotypes, lithographs and paper assemblages. “My work is a dialogue of my thoughts and feelings,” she says.
