Sculpture Trail Testimonials

Here is what people are saying about The Sculpture Trail at Laurelwood Arboretum.

“As a resident of the Pines Lake community; one of our biggest benefits is the access to the Laurelwood Arboretum. The inclusion of the Sculpture Walk has added an extra layer of beauty. It is wonderful to have the ability to appreciate such great artwork in our community. It helps to increase exposure to our community, as well as the beauty of the park. Taking guests to Laurelwood will now have an extra layer to what is already a magnificent location. A bonus of not only the park itself, but of the art, is the changing of the seasons. The Sculpture Trail adds a layer of depth to Laurelwood to make it a near magical place. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have such amazing quality artwork to increase the experience of the Laurelwood Arboretum.”

-Liz and family, Pines Lake, Wayne, New Jersey

“We consider the Sculpture Trail at Laurelwood Arboretum one of our favorite hidden jewels of Wayne. It is a lovely place for a quiet walk the year round. It serves as a perfect, peaceful setting for the large sculptures that are revealed to be nestled in the gardens as you follow the winding paths. The art pieces seem to be having a dialogue with the natural surroundings, one complementing and enhancing the other. The trees and ponds frame the artworks, which in turn activate their spaces in unexpected and exciting ways. We tell everyone we know they should visit!”

– Jill and Jim Irwin, Wayne NJ

“We took Scott Broadfoot up on his suggestion that we visit the sculpture trail at Laurelwood Arboretum and we are glad we did. The blending of nature and art is magical. The sculptures are placed tastefully to provide interest and drama without being overpowering. We will definitely return!”

-David and Helen, Basking Ridge, NJ

“I booked a tour of Laurelwood Arboretum with Broadfoot & Broadfoot for out-of-town guests and myself. We were guided through the park with friendly conversation and thoroughly enjoyed the behind-the-scenes insight into the sculptures and the artists. It was also interesting to learn why locations were chosen and it definitely makes one want to view the sculptures in all four seasons! This was definitely a worthwhile experience and the small donation goes to a very worthy cause. Highly recommend!”

-Andrea, Sparta, NJ and Oakland, CA

“For me, a delightful guided tour along the Laurelwood Arboretum sculpture trail was the highlight of the fall. Scott Broadfoot, the curator, generously shared easy and interesting background on each wonderful piece – a little about the sculptor, a little about the piece itself – its composition, features, message, and a little about the process of acquiring and placing the piece. Just enough to absorb and enhance the experience. Scott ended with a very tempting reminder to “come see it in every season! It’s always different!” He’s so right. It is always different and always a joy.”

-Kate Moran, FL

“Just a note to say how much my wife and I enjoy all the various sculptures at Laurelwood. They enhance our daily walk through Laurelwood and invite our discussions as to which is our favorite.”

-John, Pines Lake, Wayne, NJ

“We Can’t begin to tell you how wonderful Laurelwood is — both to art lovers and plant enthusiasts.
The tour and installation are wonderful. The artwork is inspired and makes us want to purchase pieces. You know the ones that would appeal to us and the sightings are perfect. You know I love color and the red pieces are so like Storm King. (only better color).
I am suggesting to my Garden Club (Rockaway Valley Garden Club) that this be a car trip for next season. It’s an easy enough walk with great plantings and perfect artwork. I can’t believe more members haven’t been there!”

-Donna and Martin, Boonton Township, NJ

“A wonderful day visiting the Sculpture Trail at the Laurelwood Arboretum in Wayne NJ.
It was well worth the trip from New York City to this very special place !
Scott Broadfoot gave us a very informative tour of the grounds , that he personally had curated beautifully.
There’s a magical process of spirit and shape in the visions of the sculptures; nature’s process of transformation and creation.
The sculptures change in light & shadow revealing a visual poetry to the forms and nature in their perfectly selected settings.
A must see , in any & all seasons !”

-Arleen , NYC

“Walking the Sculpture Trail delights the senses and nourishes the soul. There, through masterful curation, you can drink in the majesty of nature and contemplate the beauty that humans possess and express through art.”

-Gloria and Mike, New Vernon, NJ

I visited the arboretum for the first time last summer and found it to be a well-groomed, world-class sanctuary. There is so much plant variety, interesting landscaping, and enchanted trails. In addition to the natural beauty, I discovered incredible, larger than life sculptures that were fun to interact with. Each had a placard with a QR code that create an easy phone audio tour and gave each art piece meaning and further depth. I highly recommend anyone take a few hours to leisurely explore this magic garden! There is so much to see there!

-Kirk, Eugene, OR

There’s a jewel of an arboretum in Wayne, NJ, which was donated to the community several years ago.  Since then the gardens have been expanded and the sculptures added to beautify the property.  As someone who has visited Grounds for Sculpture, I want you all to know that Laurelwood is a much more comforting place to visit.  It’s size adds to the pleasure of a lovely walk through the grounds. Also the website is so lovely and it entices people to visit.

-Elaine, NJ

“I recently had the pleasure of touring the Sculpture Trail at Laurelwood Arboretum. Scott and the Broadfoot & Broadfoot team did an amazing job of curating the exhibits to complement the natural beauty of the park.
Their presentation, placement and orientation of the works is truly exquisite. I particularly enjoyed the treatment of the contrasting pieces ‘Punch’ and ‘Punch Line’ by Fitzhugh Karol. A great visit for any season!”
